I have a 98 Accord V6 and I just bought the Eclipse double din TV/DVD/CD/NAVIGATION system off of Ebay for $904.00 shipped. I haven't seen the installation manuals yet so I don't know how indepth they go, but while I wait for the unit to arrive I want to do a bit of research so I can get the unit installed as professionally and quickly as possible. It seems pretty straight forward except for having to tap into the speed sensor and install the GPS antenna. I was wondering if anyone has attempted this by themselves and if so do you have any tutorials, advice, or things to watch out for?

I just noticed on Crutchfield that the Eclipse double din doesn't fit a 98 accord. I emailed them and they told me that the accord double din slot is too big for the eclipse unit and if I took it to a custom installer then they could make a bracket that would make the eclipse unit fit does anyone have any ideas about how I could get around this cheaply?

I haven't looked into the Pioneer but I have allready purchased the Eclipse because it was such a good deal off of Ebay. Luckily, I work at Borgwarner Automotive as a test engineer and I am friends with other engineers and tool makers so I'm sure somebody will come up with an idea to make this work. I was just wondering if anyone knew of a bracket that I could just buy. Who knows if I have one designed then maybe you'll be seeing them on ebay sold by me. LOL

Ok, I found the bracket on Ebay for $12.00. I knew somebody had to be making these. Just go to Ebay and type in "accord double din". At the time I bought the last one but here is the link if anyone wants to check it out.

I stopped by an Eclipse dealer earlier today just to see how much they charge for installation of the Navigation unit and they told me $250.00. That is way too much money for such a straight forward job. I mean I could see if they had to customize a bracket or something. Anyways they also told me that if I went and did it myself then my warranty would be voided. Does anyone know if that's true or not because if it is that sounds like a hell of a racket these guys have.

if someone who installs it is Certified to do so then it doesnt void the warranty if u have a professional installer do it...... if u dont and u do it urself yes it does void the warranty go have best buy intstall it

I talked to the shop I bought it from and they told me to put their info down under who installed it on the warranty card. So now I can do it myself and still keep the warranty.

Someone told me that if I remove the stock radio and install the Eclipse then my keyless entry on my Accord won't work. Can anyone verify this?

That's one of the reasons I don't like to buy from Ebay, I don't care if they have a pretty good feedback score, I still don't buy from anyone at Ebay, I'd rather spend a little more but buy it locally. I have a friend who bought an amplifier and it took them 7 weeks to ship it[:@]

I actually reordered the same parts form another company and allready received them today. I left two negative feedbacks on ebay one for the bracket and one for the harness. I can't understand why people leave positive feedback and even neutral feedback when shipping took almost a month. I think people are just scared that they will get negative feedback if they leave negative feedback.

I still haven't got the navigation hooked into the speed sensor. I have a 1998 honda accord EX and I am told I need to look for a grey harness under the center of the dash and tap into the Blue wire with the white stripe on it. I CAN"T FIND IT! Does anyone know if it's on the drivers side, passenger side, or if the harness is grey, blue, green. I need help to complete my installation. I know somebody knows so please help a brother out. If you have pictures or something please send them to me tkrzysko@hotmail.com. I allready have wire diagrams.
