LONG ELABORATION (SKIP IF YOU WANT):
I'm thinking of repainting my car. It's been over two years since i've owned my car and i've been neglecting care for it since i've been focused more on my studies. Now there are a large amount of scratches and chips and it looks terrible for a young car. I let my mother borrow the car and she "accidentally" slid the side passenger door next to a concrete wall. I was thinking what you guys think i should do-? I want everything painted expect for the roof and trunk since they're in great condition. However i don't know how much it'll cost.

Most of then are moderate size chips (1cm+) and scratches on the clearcoat. I won't paint the front and back bumpers since i'm getting a body kit anyways.

Things i want painted now are:
- Right/Left fender.
- Right/Left door.
- Right/Left side of the car.

1) How much do u think i will have to spend using the experience of getting you cars painted if any.
2) Are they going to just paint over the original paint-? I prefer if they sand it down then repaint it but i assume that'll cost me a lot and the painters won't like the sound of that as well from the stories i've heard.

You will need an appraisal from a few shops in order to see what you are in for. There are $400 Maaco quickies and $4000 perfectionist jobs.
I would take it to a few places for a free estimate. The best shops give a lifetime warranty on paint and labor.

Are you sure that some hard work with a buffer and the right products can't save it? I've turned a few sow's ears into silk purses in my time.

yea i've seen some maaco shops for like 400 but last about 6months.. if you are planning to keep your car for a long time.. i'd suggest you save your money and invest in a 3000-4000 paint job.. it also depends on the color.. if you go for ... hunter green.. its less then ferrari candy red.
