I had the belt come off yesterday and luckily was only a few blocks from my house. I know the routing of the belt but cannot figure out the tensioner and do not want to do damage attempting to reinstall.

Is it spring loaded? Where is the pivot point? Do I need to loosen, install, and re-tighten?

I know it should be an easy job but I haven't done it on this car yet...

Thanks for tips... or guidance to diagram that might help.

I have the 4-cyl, so I'm just going by pictures like this...

The tensioner pulley (#3) is on an arm that pivots around the center of the idler (#5). On my 4-cyl the way to swing the tensioner is to put a long-handled wrench on the bolt in the center of the pulley (#6). Pull the wrench towards the front of the car, which is in the direction of tightening the bolt. As you do this, the spring-loaded tensioner arm swings forward so you can get the belt on & off.

Thanks Jim! I thought that might be the case but wasn't sure... back out to the garage.
