Hi all,
I just bought a new TSX and have to figure out what to do with my 98 Accord. Sedan, i4, EX-L (factory installed leather). 196K miles.
It will need transmission work (min $1800). The check engine light is on with a transmission "error" code. The transmission shop cleaned out the solenoids twice and there are still shavings in it. They think it's the clutch pads going but can't be for sure unless they open up the transmission...at that point, it's $1800 min.
The rest of the car runs very well. My regular mechanic and trans guy said the engine and all other systems are very good. A/C/Heat are great. Leather is good condition except for some cracking on the driver's seat.
Paint has severe clear coat failure though. It would need a repaint.
Kelly Blue Book won't give a value for poor condition.
I'm realistic and don't expect a ton for it...but what do you think it could realistically sell for?
I'm asking because if it's not much, I would just donate it or give it to my in-laws who could use a reliable car (albeit they would have to put some money into it).
