So why did you shut your lights off early in the first place? Especially if you were driving without a license?... And WHY did you decide to drive without a license?

Don't do anything that can attract any attention. Iv been driving w/o a DL for 1 1/2 years and nothing has happened. And my car is loud...you just have to learn to do everything by the book. Don't give them any reason to pull you. Lucky you only $500 ticket if I get caught driving I str8 to jail.

if you lose your DL, it's because you made a mistake that proves you shouldn't be driving.

This is true. But crap happens....I live 30min from ANYTHING so got to do what you got to do to make ends meet.

That cop, if he pulled you over that close to your destination. did you tell him that your house was right there? IS that supposed to susperseed the law ? I mean he wouldnt be able to keep up with writing tickets if he did for every little mess up like this. I feel very sorry for you bud. For failing to operate by the laws of the land .

He broke the law simple as that. Cop doesn’t have to be a @$$ hole he was just doing his job. Don’t take it the wrong way I’m not taking the cops side what so ever...50 can suck a fat one. But when driving around with no DL you have to be 100% on top of your stuff one wrong slip up can put you in jail or give you a HUGE ticket...as his story tells.

haha, this is totally my opinion so don't take it the wrong way either, but everyone breaks the law some way or another every time they drive. i dont think cops should have the power to stop you for going two miles per hour over the limit, or something like this headlight instance. Yet cops do have the power. That doesn't mean they should, which is why i believe this guy was just looking to make trouble. I consider myself lucky for not getting into a situation with a cop yet, I speed consistently and am sure do other things wrong, but play it safe in populous areas.

lol yeah I’m with ya....but you have to look at it in a cop's point of view too...Who says as soon as he cut his lights a little kid ran out of his house after a ball or something and bam dead cus home boy cut his lights while the car was still moving. You have to look at it from diff. angles too. ANYTHING can happen.

thats a very good point^^ Yeah, what just makes it suck for him is he didn't play it safe enough and got boned without his license. OP, just learn from this and don't go driven without a license. or drive like a grandma. (who i think are the worst...)

i assume the lights were cut so he could "sneak" home. silly kids.
here in IL if you lose your DL due to a DUI and get caught driving on suspended DL, they take your DL for LIFE!
i'm not knocking anyone for mistakes made. i've been stupid lucky. i've done enough dumb and dangerous stuff to lose my DL many times over (let alone jail time). i'll just say that it was a good thing my vehicle was faster than a cruizer. ;)
the system isn't fair. i was leaving work one day (happend to work near a group of bars). I was following a SUV that was driving without it's lights on (at 1am), and weaving all over - driver was obviously drunk. Eventually we came up to a manditory roadblock/roadside check. I laughed, thinking i was going to watch this driver get nailed... i was wrong. They waved that SUV through (lights off) and pulled me to the side. I lectured the officer on what I had witnessed and said something to the effect of "was that drunk driver a cop or a judge?".
and i've known three people who have recieved DUI's in front of their house, one was asleep in the driver's seat, car off. another friend got a DUI when she was standing at the end of a private driveway, waiting for her husband because she realized she was too drunk and drove to the end of the driveway (rural 1/2 mi. driveway). Even though she was technically on private property for that time, she got a DUI. She was standing by the side of the road but admitted she moved her car and was waiting for a ride.

Yeah if I get caught driving I go to jail. No court date nothing. I sit in jail to serve my remainder of my probation. The laws are in stupid AT TIMES. But I guess the FL laws are better than IL. Iv had a friend who got a dui by sleeping in the BACK seat of his car with the keys in the TRUNK!!! Talk about some laws are stupid but some of them need to be fallowed IMPO.
