I recently purchased a Cyclo Buffer. It is an exemplary machine. I do not know how to use a rotary buffer (yet), but this is the strongest buffer available before graduating to the rotary. It's idiot proof and I'm living proof of that.....believe me!
It has only one speed but it is superbly balanced and cuts the time required to remove marring by 50% or more. I recently did an area on a hood that was filled with swirls and marks, it was awful. Normally this would take 10-15 minutes with my Porter Cable to remove the marks...about a 2'X2' area. Using the same products it was like a mirror in only a few passes, maybe six. Up-down, left-right, (slow movements) and the surface was swirl free. I was amazed! I let the weight of the machine do the work, no pressure added. It's not cheap but if you are considering purchasing a buffer I recommend this machine for those just starting out. The PC will not be retired, it will still have its place but for large areas the Cyclo will be my go to. The Porter Cable is a wonderful machine but this one just kicks ass.

I am simply amazed at the results with this machine and there is no hand fatigue as with the PC.

oooooooooooo no ,,, im never using buffer agein.
Did it while ago to my mercedes... Made millions of those tiny marks all over the car. Guess there was a rock stuck on the buffing cloth or something.

Sorry to hear of that. The irony of it is that it will likely take a buffer to remove the marks completely.

There's a huge difference between a rotary buffer and random orbital buffers. A rotary is to be used by experienced hands where as a random orbital (like the two I have) have reasonably easy learning curves and won't damage the paint. A rotary in the wrong hands can remove the paint![sm=signs007.gif]
