Hey everyone i am about to build me a custom speakerboxx in the back where my back seats used to be in my car. I was wondering if anyone could help me in what type of speakers i should put in there. i want something that sounds good but also hits pretty decent. Please let me know any suggestions.

Really it all depends on how much money your willing to spend on the speakers and amp also how serious are you about car audio. It can get really expensive with hard-hitting and clear basss to hard-hitting upto a certain level for a decent amount. Also there's a pretty good setup with a great price.

Depending what kind of sound you want whether you want to feel it, hear it maning mory boomyness les feeling it.... personally i'd run FOCALS, Infinity(already do) or MTX MTX is unblowable so if ur worried about blowing subs or u wanna pount the $hit outta them go with MTX MXS series

if you are not looking to drop to much cash, and just want a premium bass package, maybe you should look into the powered subs, i know infinity has the basslink, which is powered by an amp, there are a couple of different variations, but my girl just wanted a little bass, so we got her that, and the install was simple and it sounds good in her mazda rx8. Although i have infinity 12's in a box with rockford amps

Personally I have an all Alpine setup. I've had a full MTX setup and an all Rockford setup. Alpine definitely does not make the best speakers in the world. I know this. MTX I fried the voice coil with a Phoenix Gold MS2125 at 1 ohm, who cares that doesn't mean that are or aren't good, things jsut happen. Rockfords...too much bass for my car. Personally all three of the setups had their own quirks. I'm in to SQ not waking the world. A type-r 12" is like $100. The Infinity Perfects are another god choice. There's so many decent speakers out there...try visiting some shops and listening to them yourself. Most can only offer ideas based on what they've used.

personaly if i had the cash i would run alpine subs jl amps and mb mids and highs, but as of know sense i work at best buy alpine is giving us **** dirt cheap. alpine type-r 10s-75 bucks alpine type-r componets 100 6x9s 65 the ivd-a310 820 the v-12 4 channle amp 300 and rockfurd is giving us cheaper ther punch 8002 is goinig to cost me 185 and i am going to buy 2. so if i weigh all the pros and cons and cost. alpine is my choice. and once i can afford them i will be getting memphis amps to run my subs.

#1 wattage isn't everything #2 a 10w7 can handle 1000watts...They've been used in SPL competitions at 1000 watts per sub. JL's high end models handle a lot more wattage than they rate them at.

Taken from Car Audio Magazines 10w7-3 Test Report:

To power the JL Audio 10W7-3 subwoofer, I installed my custom-built Zapco Competition C2K-6.0X amplifier. "Yeah Baby" (with Austin Powers accent), I'm talking about the one that's been "Peak'd'n Tweek'd", on which I used the built-in crossover. The 10W7-3 has a single 3-ohm voice coil, and the Zapco C2K-6.0X normally makes a hefty 600 watts mono into this load. But mine kicks out a shattering 1200 watts mono. (All you have to do is play with the rail voltage -- call Zapco for the insider's info!)

See if ur gonna run w7's and like all JL amps u need to get the right deck take example Eclipse 8 volt preout aswell u need to be running top end quality fronts and/or rears..... or else ur car will sound too bassy and distorted.... i have over 6000$ in my stereo
