Well, we'd like to have a nice new windshield.

Simple question - is this a suitable DIY job?

How long does the job take a pro, and how long would it take a motivated novice?

Approximately how much would it cost to have the job done in a windshield repar place - "cash", not an insurance job?

Are aftermarket windshields suitable for this job?

Thanks.

i have never replaced one, we take it to a glass shop..

I would call around and chk for prices .yes use a non Hond windshield ..they do anyways ........

make sure to get a glass shop ,, otherwise you might develop issues with water leak and wind noise...
it takes a shop about 2-4 hrs .......

Yes do use a glass shop, they do this for a living unlike the spark plug Tech who does not put in windows for a living..

Thanks, guys.

That's enough for me to see the need to go to a glass shop.

A new, unpitted and uscratched windshield has on me a tremendous positive psycholigical effect towards a car. When I'm looking through a perfect windhsield, I think the rest of the car is perfect, too. (Of course, in our case, the rest of the car IS perfect.)

unless you have the proper tools and adhesives, this is not a job I would recommend. you can do it yourself if you are a competent mechanic.....while you can use non OEM glass, I would stay away from the really cheap glass as you WILL notice a difference (messed up optics and wavy lines / ripples in the glass)
