Question - now when i get my car up to about 100km/h or so it shakes. I thought it was the balance of the wheels but the guy at the store said that it's just what happens when you put a wider and aftermarket wheel on.

I think he's full of $hi+. I think the wheels are misbalanced. Does anyone have any insight to this problem?

If he can't balance them properly does anyone have any recommendations to a certain chain to have them balanced correctly? I don't want to have to pay extra but if this guy doesn't know what he's doing I'm going to pay the $40 and have them balanced through a reputable place.

He is full of it...IF the wheels are properly balanced and have the proper tire pressures then it's the suspension or brakes. Aftermarket wheels don't cause shaking...balancing and alignment issues do as well as warped rotors. At 62mph (100km) you should be pretty stable...I've hit 120+ without skipping a beat, on an R rated tire plenty of times... on different sets of tires at that.

Pepboys has good equipment, Discount Tire (www.tire.com , to find a location near you), Tire King, depends where you're at.

My stock wheels that I had on 20 minutes earlier I can take up to 100MPG (160km/h) no problem without a shake. My brakes and rotors are fine - it's the wheels without a doubt.

I'm in Canada so we don't have those stores but there are more reputable places. I'm going to take them back to him.

Any large chain should have the right equipment to to it quick and properly.

Have the run out checked on the wheels. That will tell if they are out of round. If not, the tires are at fault.
