Default 2009 Tokyo Auto Salon: Honda Concepts

1 and shelved its much-hyped 600-horsepower, V10-powered NSX in the wake of the global financial crisis, but the company has not forgotten its sporty roots, as one look at its concepts for the 2009 Tokyo Auto Salon proves.
Honda's tuning arm, Honda Access, will unveil its all-new Sports Modulo customized lineup at the show, which takes place from January 9-11. This could well be the last update of the aging S2000. Employing a rallying cry of "Fumon," which means "wind ripple," Honda Access' designers created radical aerodynamic body parts to reduce the S2000 Sports Modulo's drag-coefficient levels.
While the edgy front spoiler and rear winglets won't win any big design awards, Honda engineers tell us that these parts improve downforce and stability at speed. This S2000 also features new lightweight alloy wheels and a wine-red retractable cloth roof.
Honda's second main concept for the show is its Sports Modulo Fit RS concept. It's based on the popular Fit and wears the same "wind ripple" aerodynamic body parts as the S2000, along with sport wheels and a significantly upgraded interior redesign in three-tone bright orange, black and aluminum. The Honda Access will display upgrades for Civic and Accord models as well.
On the opposite end of the design spectrum, Honda openly panders to the young female market with its Life Style Study concept, based on the 600cc Life minicar. The cutely colored interior and exterior are covered with hundreds of Swarovski crystal beads. It looks like something out of Paris Hilton's toy box. The Life Style Study even gets a center console boasting shiny crystals as well as dreamy pink polka-dot seat covers. Well, it will show well under the lights.

Pink polka-dot seat covers add to the flair of the Tokyo Auto Salon concept.
