does my headlights have to be DOT stamped?
hey all, I just had some headlights installed with no DOT stamp on them. I failed an inspection at one shop for it, but passed at another. Is the DOT stamp a requirement? or do you just have to have low/high/and turn signals?
thanx for the replies.
btw, the lamps are APC projectors. the corners are stamped but not lenses on headlights

RE: does my headlights have to be DOT stamped?
Legally, they must be stamped. That stamp means the headlights meet all the requirements set forth for beam pattern, scatter, glare, and cuttoff zones. Now your lights may meet those regulations, but without the stamp there is no legal proof of that. Also no stamp may mean the company that made the lights did not have them tested and certified. Now if the corner lense assembly is part of the entire headlamp assembly as one unit, then the stamp there covers the whole thing.
