That's a bad igniter, better replace while it's still under warranty, the igniter is built into the ballast so if it fails your going to have to replace the whole ballast.

EDIT: If they both do it, it may just be a crappy set with a low igniter voltage. Did you get the DDMs? Flickering is usually caused by too low of a voltage from the ballast or a bulb going bad, at least with full scale HPS HIDs.

No they shouldn't flicker one bit, unless that's jsut the deal with these cheaper kits. My kit isn't digital and doesn't flicker, only set I had seen flicker when coming had a bag igniter.

The DDM are fully digital and mine flicker the tiniest (almost not at all) when I turn them on.

my experience in both my cars and what i have seen in the lexus is that they DO flicker when turned on. that is normal because the lamps must heat up gradually to temperature.
that is also why hid's are not recommended for the brights-you would not be able to flash them due to the heating phase.

totally normal,,,and cool. shows you have the good stuff.

its not as though its an on and off thing its just right when they're turned on and have been off all day. its something almost unnoticeable. after about 30 seconds they're all good. and yeah mine are ddm's love them more than anything!

Zach,

it should not take 30 second to stop flickering. They should flicker once, when they are turned on and that's it. They will then warm up to temperature which will change in color during that process- not flicker.
Perhaps it is the ignitor in the ballast.

Does it happen to both lights or just one?
