Default Hood Work - Bonnet Damper

Has anyone thought of doing this? It seems like a great convience when you "pop" the hood. Quesiton is where would it bolt? ?_? Just throwing ideas out there.....its about time that Honda came with bonnet dampers or essential hydraulic cylinder to lift the heavy OEM hood.

You would probably have to make a few mods to bolt it up. And to make it where when you pop the hood the hood comes up automatically if this is what you are going for maybe run a cable and position it where it will pull the latch that holds the hood.

I found the 7th gen application for $79 shipped. Don't know if I'm gonna go for it...but it makes engine work hella lot easier.

Do the 7th gen V6's have hood dampers? If so, I'd use them and measure where the connections are so you get the right amount of lifting force and it holds the hood at the right height. A lot of aftermarket systems that I've seen either don't lift the hood on their own and/or don't hold it at the right height.

FYI - I know from owning one that the 6th gen V6's have dampers.

Well, RedLineTuning has made it specifically to my year of Accord. Does the location seem right to you? The company utilizes two bonnet dampers and has a 2 year warranty. Looks like they know their stuff: http://www.redlinetuning.com/QL-comp-chart.html

Looks like they missed the best gen of Accords! Falkore, 6th gen EX have them? Looks like i'll be making a trip to the junkyard soon.

Redlinetuning makes a very nice product .... I'm probably going to use their damper for my tC. On the tC, RLT uses 1 damper and needs the hood drilled for the mount. NRG makes a kit that uses 2 dampers and doesn't need drilling, but it doesn't hold the hood open fully.

Finch: my '00 was an EX V6 and had the dampers. They'd work I'm sure .... might have to do a little work on the mounts though. To the junkyard classroom you go!

Yep, RLT involves drilling and riveting, so you know the product works 100% everytime, all the time. Check out the installation guide...its intense.

Can't say that I agree with that coment. Drilling and rivetting have nothing to do with a damper failure or loss of gas pressure.

Good instructions and good pics within .... intense? Have you tried installing an ES master kit? How about the Koni's for my tC that require the OEm shock to be cut in half and reused? I guess it's all in your point of referance.
