What kind of headlight bulbs are brighter?
I have a 96 Accord and I'm planning to put H.I.D / Xenon Bulbs for my headlights......But I had few questions abt them. I've seen HID bulbs with specs like 4000K color temperature and 80 watts (for 9006/low beams)......and then there are some bulbs which have specs like 8500K color temperature and 55 watts (for 9006/low beams). So, I was just wondering which of these two bulbs will be brighter. Is the color temperature more important or the wattage, for the bulbs to be brighter? Please help me out. I want bright lights but I don't know how to deal with these specs. I was looking at ebay for HID bulbs and they have a whole lot of options there regarding the specs, and I don't know which one to choose. And also, which bulb will last longer? the one with low temperature(4000K) and high watts(80W), or the one with high temperature(8500K) and low watts(55W). Some knowledgeable inputs will be highly appreciated.
P.S...........I'm planning to spend about $25-$30 (including the shipping). So please don't refer me super-high specs bulbs that cost like $100. Thanks!

for those kinds of bulbs (xenon halogen bulbs) i think the wattage makes it brighter but 4000 K is like factory color and 8500 K is going to be pretty blue. a lot of people recommend getting silverstars. theyre alot brighter and whiter than factory bulbs.

I also reccomend the silverstars fresh off of the shelf, most white and bright bulbs for your ride, usually run about $ 47.00 at your local AutoZone or Advance parts stores...

All my cars have Silverstars. I drive 90 miles one way to work, and the Silverstars are very bright. You can see the difference going down the road passing cars, their lights look so yellow. I have a 2000 Chevy Z-71, 2002 Jeep Liberty, and of course the best one of them all, a 1991 Honda Accord.

never buy HIDs on ebay. they often come broken/held together with electrical tape. just today the local shop i spend most of my time at a guy came in with his ebay HID kit that did not work(came with a broken bulb).
you arent going to be able to get a decent quality HID kit for less than 2-3hundred
