and it weighs next to nothing... it can also be painted but the point is for weight reduction, the less weight you have to haul around the better economy you'll get and the more power you'll have.

so you CAN paint a CF body kit or something? i mean i like to show off too but ppl really should jsut paint those CF body kits. and yeah i read your reply the point is weight reduction but i like looks too. i wouldnt mind a cf hood though. those look cool

For me it's more for looks and to make people say, " Hey that looks wicked, what is that made of, is that painted that way?" It's just something to have that makes my car stand out. If u can't appreciate it, maybe you need to try to buy a carbon fiber product for your car and see what u think.

on a related topic, i know carbon fiber parts are usually a night mare to install, my local shop says every hood they have ever done hasnt fit right and always has inperfections.

There are some folks over on the m3forum that are CF wh*res. Gotta have everythign carbon fiber. I think it looks pretty cool if done right, but its quite expensive to do for purely cosmetic purposes. Lets face it: a CF front grill will likely yield no performance gains!
