Default 1999 Honda Accord Radio Help

Hello members

I got a 1999 Honda Accord Ex. The radio of my car works fine including the speakers. However the cd player reads the cd`s randomly. Most of the time when I put a cd in, it displays PE-0. I was thinking in getting a new radio/cd player for my car. Any suggestions for a new radio/cd player or any solution for this?

Any help it will be appreciate it!

Thanks and have a nice day.

Replacing with aftermarket is easy, you just need a mounting kit and wire harness, visite metra online for part numbers and instructions.

I have a perfect working 6-disc factory HU from my 01 that would be a drop-in replacement. Let me know if you are interested.

I liked this kit for a single DIN

and the harness is a Metra 70-1721

I was thinking of getting a Pioneer Radio. So I just need to get mounting kit and wire harness and I should be set? If I dont feel comfortable making the installation my self approximately how much $ are we talking about for the installation? (If you have an idea)

Thanks so much for the info it was really helpful since it gives me a point were to start.

with the harness and kit, you just follow the instructions. the only real connections you need to make are between the Pioneer harness and the Metra harness. these connections can be made at the comfort of a table or workbench, and you can use decent crimp connectors and a crimper. You should plan on buying a good crimper anyway.

i use this and love it, i found mine at an autoparts store. be sure it's for insulated connectors

with this and a handful of connectors:

either these nylon caps (having the caps makes wiring messier, but these won't fail if properly crimped):

or these (in-line makes wiring neater, but i have found these are less reliable):

they come with and without heat shrink. with heat shrink means you need a heat gun (or high-temp hair dryer).

i like these at speakers

the wire harness connections can end up like this:

if you have a Phillips screwdriver (stubby and long), 8mm socket driver, and the tools above, you can replace a 1998-2002 Accord head unit.

last recommendation - is to have a good wire stripper:

i love these automatic kind -makes it a sinch. and the handle does include a wire crimper (i used the sharp point when crimping the white caps pictured above).
