2000 honda accord ex Radio ecu install help
Hi everyone, im new to the forums. I recently inherited my brothers 2000 honda accord ex and when he tried to install a aftermarket double din navigation everything worked fine, but the ecu went out on him about 10 days later. When we took the car to honda the supervisor told us that because our car had the honda code security system that we couldnt have a aftermarket radio. Is this true or did our ecu just happen to go out at about the same time as we replaced the radio. Any help would be great, thanks.

the supervisor is wrong. the factory radio for 2002 or older Accords can be replaced without issues. now - if you messed up the wiring you could have caused the problem. did you use a wiring harness adapter? pic of the headunit wiring?

I actually used a wiring harness that I purchased from ebay. Ive installed a few indash's in some of my other cars and usually dont have any issues, but dont ho I findas have to have the oem radio installed so that the car dosent think that its being stolen. Atleast thats what I figured. So if I give the another shot all I have to do is unistall the oem radio, use the harness to connect to the honda harness, and then wire that up to the new aftermarket radio, right? thanks

assuming all of your connections are flawless...
i use high quality crimp connectors or solder and heat shrink. if the radio alarm wire is connected somehow, it would mess with the car. pic of your wire harness job?
is it a Metra harness? what model number?
