2005 Accord LX. Randomly radio POPS! and then goes dead
#11
I know this is might be a temp. fix, but I just went outside and unplugged the battery for about a minute and plugged it back in and the stereo worked. I noticed that the battery terminals were a little coroded. This could be part of the problem......

has anyone found a solution to this issue? my 05 lx is doing the exact same thing - loud pop, no sound but display is fine. turning the radio off and back on was working a few weeks ago but now it's happening more frequently and the power off-on no longer works. an audio guy said it's most likely the amp and it's probably cheaper to replace the unit completely. If that's the case, what would be a good in-dash replacement with GPS? thanks in advance.

Same thing happening on my 04 accord lx. I had an aux in module installed for several years. Honda suggested that module may be going bad. Disconnected it and the problem remains. If no one has figured out how to fix the issue I will be taking it to Honda most likely this week and will report what I find.

I had an aux in there too. This could be the common thread that's making these radios go bad but I highly doubt it. can others verify?
as for solution, i'm putting an aftermarket unit in the storage bin. :-/

Added a radio below the factory radio and all is well. My guess is that the internal amp on the stock radio is going bad. The AUX in may have sped up that process because you have to turn the volume way up in order for the sound to be loud enough (at least in my case I did). I'm sure that puts more stress on your amp than listening to the radio, since when I have the radio on the volume is at like 30%, and when I'm using the aux in it's at 80%.
I took this opportunity to get a radio with bluetooth and I love it. I'm sure it will drain the battery on my phone more but it's nice being able to change channels from the radio head unit/control.

I found a place in Garland, TX that fixed the issue with my 2005 Accord LX radio/CD player at a very reasonable cost (less than $200) and with excellent customer service. I don't know if I can name them - is there a ban on advertising on the forum? Anyhoo, if you Google "Honda radio repair Garland TX" you'll find them...worked for me!

Same problem~
I've been having the SAME problem!! It started about 6 months ago. It will pop real loud, I turn it off. sometimes it will come right back on, sometimes I have to bang on the face for it to work. Turn it on/off/on/off. So frustrating! Anyone have any ideas?
