RE: Amplifier Question
I hope you didn't pay that much for that sub and box. Don't buy anything from Bestbuy, everything is ripped off. For that money you could get a Kicker CVX and a Kicker 750.1 amp which will blow that setup away. Thats what I have now and I couldn't believe a 12" could be that loud. I used to have two 15"s and this one 12" nearly matches the output of my 15"s, and sounds even better.
Kicker 750.1 $245
Kicker CVX $180
EDIT: Also I hope you ONLY listen to rap, bandpass enclosures suck except for a small range of low frequencies. I personally prefer sealed since I listen to everything, and it still tears up the lows yet still sounds good with highs.

RE: Amplifier Question
Hey !
Well I paid 199 for that JBL Sub with the box. It was on sale. I still havent gotten the amp. I basically listen toa lot of R&B,Hip Hop etc - some dance/trance but not too often. What kind of Kicker amp would you suggest? I havent heard about Kicker - what kind of power should I be looking for?
Thanks for getting back to me..Merry Christmas!

RE: Amplifier Question
JBL subs are just fine. True, bandpass boxes arent usually the best but seeing as this bandpass box is made by JBL specifically for the sub thats in there, itll be fine.
As for which amp, get the 400 watt RF.

RE: Amplifier Question
Kicker amps are my favorite, the price is good and the amp is a killer. If you really want to keep that sub I would get a Kicker ZX300.1. All of Kickers products are underrated, which seems to be the opposite of how most of the car audio industry usually rates their products. That sub may not even like that amp for a daily driver. I've never heard any JBL subs, but those specs aren't too promising.
EDIT: I'm sorry I didn't realize that sub was a single coil. That amp would be good but since the sub is 4ohms a Kicker ZX400.1 or a Kicker ZX750.1. Although the amps are more expensive, they are worth it. Even if you don't like the sub and bandpass box you could get rid of it, but the amp you could keep for your next sub. A lot of people don't realize how important a good amp is.
