similar to his approach but a alot cheaper and i bit more ghetto
buy some standard size male slide connects. you will have to cut it down a bit to fit in the stock connectors though. i used a dremel. works great if you dont want to mess with your factory wires.

Their Signature Reference line. Im using the SR5250's 5.25" component set. ThatsPolk's "high end" line. Theyre based off their $2000+ LSi home speaker line. The only things I dont like about them is the tweeters are too big and it makes it hard to squeeze them into some places. Plus they dont give you a surface mount adapter so you have to cut a 2" hole in whatever youre going to mount them to.

Hey MacLeod!!! I switched the polarity on my driver's side front door woofer and it sounds great! I couldn't believe that trick actually works! Now I have to re-solder the connections on my gf's since her doors have the Crutchfield speaker clips and I'd rather re-wire behind the head unit than take the door apart again. (She has an '01 LX ULEV sedan).
I have MB Quartz front components. The tweeter is a little smaller than the polks. I custom mounted them to the back of the grille. No dash cutting was necessary.
For everyone wondering about what fits well, I just installed my gf's JVC HDR1 head unit, iPod adapter (plug in the slot below the radio with the cover) and a set of Polk slim-fit 5.25's. The speakers fit in the stock brackets, but you have to cut the back of the basket off. I did this with a hacksaw and cleaned it up with a table grinder.
In closing, thanks MacLeod for suggesting to reverse the wiring on 1 front woofer!
