Default Dash screen backlight question

When I bought my 04 accord, the backlight on my dash screen(the display for the cd player/ac unit etc..) wasnt working, which cut a lot off the price...

The dealer gave me a number for an oem place where I could purchase a new unit for about 450 bucks...

I was just wondering maybe if there was a way I could fix it or replace something. Maybe save myself some cash. Not sure if its possible, but just thought I'd ask and hope someone has had the same problem and avoided having to replace the whole thing.

I'm not an expert with vehicles, so please be as descriptive as you can

Thanks!

NONE of the lights lit up... but the dash unit still works?

sounds like a wiring problem to me, I would take off some of the interior panels and start looking around.

well, in the right sunlight you can see the display(the ac temp, radio station, disc number etc...), the backlight just doesnt work.

I know a few guys that do LED swaps on cars. They could probably fix it for you if it is just the backlights.

If you decide to replace it with a new unit, I have a 6 cd changer that was used only for a couple months. I'm selling it for $175 shipped if you are interested.

Press and hold the cd changer/player button for 5 seconds.
Sounds like it's in stealth mode.
Many dealers don't know this.
But if you press and hold the changer button for 5 seconds, the radio will beep and the display goes blank.
As far as I know, this in only for the 7th gen accord.
Also, if you hold down the unlock button on your key that will roll all the windows down
