Default How interchangeable are Honda Radios over the years?

I need to replace the original am/fm/cassette head in my 92 accord LX.

I figure the easiest way is another Honda Accord radio. (or from another model of Honda?) Probably newer and less worn out. What years are going to fit with a minimum of hassle? As in no need to rewire or use an extra harness.

Thanks,
rick

probably the easiest way is actually going to be an after market unit with the proper wiring harness and dash kit. I know it seems like more work but it will honestly be about the same and the results will be better.

Neo is right. Aftermarket is easy and you get modern convenience. Easy to install.

If you are set on sticking with a factory head unit, some of the older Acura CD Radios fit perfectly in your Honda. They are on ebay but the prices vary. The ones from the Integra/Legend around 1994-2001 should have the same plug on the back as your current radio. There are a few that are Honda units but they don't pop up on ebay much. These units also have the cutouts in the side for the little hangers that hold the cubbyhole underneath. Examine the mount for a match with your mount. There were several different types, but I think you have the one where you assemble the radio and cubbyhole, screw them to the mounting bracket, slide both in and finally insert the screws that are accessible with the ashtray assembly removed.

This sold one shows what they look like. Exact fit (except for the Acura badge)
eBay - New & used electronics, cars, apparel, collectibles, sporting goods & more at low prices

note the selling price on that "mint" one was pretty high. I have seen them go for much less from individuals selling them.

Here's a Honda one:
