Kicker Sub

RE: Kicker Sub
MDF is cheap, I would recommend building both just so you can hear the differences. You may like a sealed over a ported, a ported is only a bit louder on the low ends has has more of a boom. Sealed is almost as loud on the lows, and much louder and more crisp on the highs.

Don't know never bought a box, but that wouldn't make sense. It's much easier to plan and build a sealed over a ported box. There is more at play than just size with a ported box.

RE: Kicker Sub
What is a pro box and regular box? I've never heard of such a thing.... All my boxes are made out of 3/4" MDF from the hardware store... $20-25/sheet. The thicker the better, but the thicker the heavier.

Lol I'm glad you didn't do that, if I remember correctly it takes about 5ft for a 60hz sound wave to form. That's why when you get close to sub you hear more air and cone movement than bass. 60hz is low bass, higher bass takes less distance to form.

IMO, sealed is the only way to go. Also, SQ is a heck of a lot more important to me than rattling my fillings loose with cr@ppy sounding bass.
