A 1000.1 kicker amp is very pricey, over $350 and it would blow the crap out of your L5. I would get a 500.1, or if you really want to push your sub to the limit get a 750.1. Your sub is only rated for 600w, but like their amps the subs are under rated. You could try building a sealed box and see how it sounds with your current amp, you may be satisfied. I know I wouldn't be but everyone is different. There is no need to waste money if you are already satisfied. That amp may have enough to power to put it in a sealed, or it may not. The other thing is I can't really remember how a L5 sounds in a sealed, but that driver seems plenty strong for a sealed. A sealed will no doubt bring out the higher notes, if you have enough power.

And clay my friend, no your not a liar, your a very bad liar....

That is RMS and true wattage, real companies don't even mention the max. Max is just a big number lesser manufactures use to sell their amps. Max wattage is nearly irrelevant.

Honestly I would run a 750.1, if that subs blows just replace it. It's better than getting a 500.1 then wanting to upgrade the amp later, a 750.1 is only like $30 more. A 750.1 will be plenty power for a single sub, a 750.1 can go over 750w RMS, mine came from factory tested at 930w RMS. A 12" L5 is rated for 600w so a 750.1 would be fine if your gains are set right. If you get a 750.1 I would recommend you look into setting up your gains properly with a multimeter, I'm pretty sure the kicker manual comes with pretty good instructions. If not I can help you out with that.

ok yea i would need u to help me with that...but quick question isnt the L5 set to 1200w max??....so techniclly since the amp wud be roughly saying 900w rms coulnt the sub take it as long as it isnt over 1200w?

Not necessarily, the power rating comes from two things the thermal ability to take the power, and the mechanical ability. So the sub can take a big peak in power if its short enough to allow the coil to cool down before hitting it again, that is a peak rating. But that rating varies to how long that power is held, so it's nearly irrelevant. Now that 930w my amp was tested for a was a sustained 930w(RMS). So that is RMS and not peak, so the peak rating of your sub means nothing. Honestly that sub would take 1500 burps, but may not last for ever. I talked to a few people that were runnning 1500w RMS on their 12" CVX which is rated at 750w. So don't be terrified to over power it, but you do have to be careful. Your gains have to set right, that sub won't handle any clipping from a big amp, make sure there are no leaks in the box, and don't blast it too hard for too long.

EDIT: Also I used to feed my 15" CVRs rated at 500w, 800w for two years with no problems.

You mean check the RMS of your amp? You can, you have to get a track with a set tone, then check the voltage going to the sub, then check the amperage, multiply these two numbers and you have your RMS. You can still bass out, but not at max volume for a long time. Once you have a big amp and better sub, your going to be turning your bass and sub down, not trying to crank it up all the time. Even at medium volume it will be louder and more crisp sounding with a 750.1 especially on the higher notes. But remember a sealed box isn't going to turn you sub in a SQ sub. Kicker is all about SPL, even the CVX is more of an SPL sub than a SQ. The CVX is still muddy compared to a W7 but it's night and day difference to an L7, although my little friend begs to differ. That's why I love my CVX, it still has the SPL boom, and that SQ punch.

im sayin how to find out exactly how much my sub can handle

i think i gotcha....SPL is Bass and SQ is higher notes am i wrong?....technically why 10"s can hit faster and a lil better than 15"s?....ok and as for SQ what is the best brand of sub and wats the best brand as far as SPL[[speakin about 12"]]
