Large diameter speakers in doors?

RE: Large diameter speakers in doors?
I'm going to be doing baffles bolted to the door regardless of which way I go with, so if a 7" will fit, then I might as well use it. If not, Dynaudio has a 5.75" driver that will work.
*edit*
i just went back and looked at the specs, and the Dynaudio MW162 GT has a 6.5" outer diameter, so I should be good. If not, the 152 is 5.75".

RE: Large diameter speakers in doors?
I wouldnt use a 7 either unless its for midbass only.
A big speaker wont play midrange as well. Ive actually always preferred a 5.25 over a 6.5 anyway. You do give up some in ways of midbass but the much better midrange makes up for it. And if its a good quality 5.25 you wont lose that much midrange. As mentioned, Im competing with 5.25's. Im getting my butt kicked rather handily but its not because of lack of midbass.
If youre set on the 7's, youre gonna have to cut the door panel. No way that teensy weensy opening is going to be enough. Also make sure you use about 3 tons of Dynamat on BOTH SIDES of the door panel cause the 7 is going to be putting out some major vibrations.

So, I should go with the 5.75" instead?
Here are the links to the speakers I'm looking at:

droooooooooooool

Dynaudio just rules!!
If youre going to use them as midrange speakers and not midbass only speakers, those 5.75 would be perfect if theyll fit.
Get the 162. Dome mids suck.

Yeah this will be a 2 way install (see my 'painful install' thread).
I'm pretty sure I can get the 162 in there. I thought it was crazy that they have the same mounting depth...
