when you install the double din you will use ISO mount brackets. It is not a perfect double din fit, you do need a kit - like the Metra 95-7895. This install manual also shows you how to remove the factory radio trim panel:

And you'll need the Metra 70-1721 wire harness adapter.

As for the GPS and Bluetooth options - read the manual before you buy a head unit. That is the best way to know what it can and cannot do. There are a lot of features and options available. You want a navi unit that is GPS - avoid the HDD or DVD based navi systems.

Separate Garmin GPS units are usually less expensive than the Navi add-ons for in-dash double din, and the Garmin will be very accurate and easy to relocate to other vehicles. Granted, it's nice having integrated GPS - but then again, it's another thing to go wrong.

people who don't use a double din mounting kit just use the factory radio brackets and the new hu trim ring. the issue is that you have a bit of a gap, a discontinuity, and those plastic trim rings tend to rattle. i always prefer a mounting kit that eliminates the factory trim ring - for a more integrated look.

if you want to retain steering wheel controls, and the head unit you choose has that option - you can look at the PAC ASWC which replaces the PAC SWI-JACK (either will work)

ok. i think i've got it now as far as everything i would need. though as far as the unit itself. i have been looking at several different ones and i see that clearly i can buy a pioneer for like $500, but i also can get other ones that do the same thing may include more for the same price, but may not one of those top named brands like Pioneer, Sony, Kenwood...they are more like JVC or Alpine. Just wanted to know what you may have thought about choosing one over the other.

Pioneer, Kenwood, Alpine are my tops. JVC is decent. I avoid Sony typically. Too bad Eclipse is gone.
