New Speakers

Ive been looking around some more and have found somehing:
Rockford Fosgate Prime R1652-S
http://cgi.ebay.com/Rockford-Fosgate...item483ed4481b
On ebay it says they are 6-1/2" but on Crutchfield it says they are 6-3/4" and don't fit.
http://www.crutchfield.com/p_575R1652S/Rockford-Fosgate-Prime-R1652-S.html?tp=106
I'm going to trust Crutchfield over ebay, so would they fit in my 98 Accord EX without any major modifications? I know i will have to either make or buy some spacer rings to allow them to fit.
And thanks KHA for your help so far.

right, once you make the mounting rings they will fit. your opening for the mounting ring will be larger than the factory mounting hole. assume a 1/2"-5/8" thick mounting adapter (wood and foam).
the entry level RF stuff is ok for the price. I also believe Crutchfield over ebay. I can measure the exact hole opening for you tonight so you have a better idea. my factory speakers are in my basement.

Thanks! that would really help. Ive been looking at your build log's for other cars and saw that you always sound deaden. I've been thinking about doing this also while the door panel is off. Where do you buy your sound deadening stuff and how much do you think i would need for both front doors?
PS: Where is the best place to get mdf?
EDIT:
Checked Rockford Fosgate's site and they are 6.5 inch woofers. 2.17" mounting depth, and 5.71" mounting cutout diameter.

good research - the RF owners manual will always be correct.
I have been using Raammaudio's Raammat BXT II lately. 20 square feet is what I put on both my doors - that's 100% coverage. difference is night and day. speakers sound sound much nicer with better midbass response and road noise is A LOT lower. you can get BXT II in 37.5 sq. ft. packs for $89 right now. That's an amazing price. While $100 may be a lot compared to the investment in speakers - you won't regret the performance and noise improvements.
I get MDF at my local Menards. other home improvement places will carry it. i find some that is soft and some that is hard - go for the harder, more dense. if you can peal the edges you don't want it.

Well I ordered the Rockfords yesterday and according to UPS they should be here wednesday. I'm probably going to hold off on the sound deadening for a while, but it will probably happen in the future.
Do you have any tips for removing/installing the speakers that will make the process a little easier/faster?

First thing, thanks for all your help so far. I really appreciate it.
Now, I have everything planned out except for the tweeter location. I was going to originally put them in the factory locations but after some research, I've left that idea. Ive narrowed it down to sail panels or a-pillars. My only concern with the a-pillar location is that I don't have the skills to make it look decent. The sail panels look like the best choice to me. What have you found to be the best spot to place the tweeters?

A pillars by far. Sail panels are too close and too low for my liking. I like dash more than sail.
Test all three. Get it all wired and ready, have extra wire for the tweeters, use Velcro to test locations.

Well they came in today and i'm planning on installing them this weekend. I took a quick glance at the door and i have no clue how I am going to get the new speaker wire through the rubber shielding. I see no way of pulling it out to fish a wire through short of pulling the front fender off to get access to where it meets the car. How did you get the new wire through to your new speakers?

I detail the entire process in the door deadening thread...
