I love odyssey batteries. I have a small 34 amp hour battery in my sailboat. I haven't charged it for six months, and it still had 13v. My batteries just went out on my 16' flats boat, I'm saving up to replace two lead acid batteries with one big odyssey.

 

I've had my yellow top since August...I check it myself frequently and still kicks about 900+ CCA.

 

Well, I had the afternoon free, a kick a$$ AGM sitting in the garage so I got to work to take out that pea-shooter of a batt that comes stock. Getting it out, I can see why lights flicker and the like, it's only 410 CCA! In the marine world, that's a batt for a 90 hp engine. I replaced it with a Cabella 945 CCA Dual purpose AGM, one of the best batteries I have ever owned. After supplying power to my boat, stereo, pumps and everything else, it still tested perfect after3 years, but I replace anyway with new Odysseys, as when we are 50 miles offshore, I take no chances. Look at the size of the two batts:



At least Sochiro gave you space for an adult sized batt after you remove the filler bracket. I had to add extension cable to the positive side as the terminals of the AGM are on the same side. Easily done. Here's the install. Everything fits and a quick test in the garage shows no flicker or change in the lights no matter what you turn on or off. I will fabricate a new bracket to hold it this weekend...



Only downside is weight as the Cabella is easily 20 lbs more....a slightly smaller 670 cca would work well too....

 

Anytime you drain your batteries faster than the alternator recharge, you are going to go through them fast. If you let these deep cycles sit with half a charge they will quickly lose their peak capacity and eventually suffer the same death of the OEM unit.

To solve the problem, consider getting a battery maintainer from Wal-mart. Give your car a charge once a week so that you can keep the battery topped off.

 

And a battery with that capacity you need to upgrade your big three. The stock alt is not that big, and if as stated above you don't keep it topped off it will suffer, even an AGM. So you want all the current that little alt has. I like to top my yellowtop off once month.

 

the battery is great. i got the red top and it always starts in the cold!as for lights if u got some bangs they will dim so think about getting a cap.BUY OPTIMA
