Default quality subs?

i was wondering if anyone has heard of lightning audio subwoofers, specifically their 500w f&f 12" subs. i bought a pair from a friendfor REALLY cheap already in a custom built box and wired, brand new and never hooked up yet.

are they any decent? anyone ever heard of them, heard them, or used them?

thanks

price indicates quality, for the most part.

The lightning audio subs aren't great by any means. I know their boxes aren't worth anything either.

Figure out the volume of each chamber in the box (hopefully he put a divider in it for 2 subs[:'(]). Boxes can sound very different when you put different subs in them... you might be making a new one from scratch.

Definitely make sure the chambers are separated in that box. Running those subs for now won't be bad, just don't be too upset when they sound bad.

Yeah they are divided. I took the subs out the day I was gettin them to make sure i wasnt gettin gypped or nothin and he did a hell of a job makin the box! looks better than a lot of professionally built boxes do, haha

so what 12" subs could i get in a pair with good quality/reliability for under $200?

oh, and the lightning auido subs are mostly to help slightly improve the factory sound system in the car. my friends dad, who i bought it from, had already put some new front speakers in and the first owners added some tweeters into the two front doors, but the back speakers are stock and they fuzz out and distort at pretty low volumes =P

crutchfield has rockford p1's on sale. you can get 2 for the price of one for only $120. pretty good deal if you ask me. keep in mind you'll have to get another box for maximum output.

and i love how i can use apostrophes now =]
