Sure you can, just have to do a little cutting. What speakers are you looking at though. They probably aren't worth the trouble or money though...

If they are at a local shop I doubt the deal is that great. Personally I am not a fan of pioneer speakers. Although their PRS line may not be so bad, but I have never heard them. If your looking to get a good deal, figure out what set you want them find the best price online.

Which speakers are the best depends on what you like. Every speaker has it own sound, and everyone has their preferences. Try listing to some brands and see what you like best, and take a CD of some music you listen to.

How much do they want for them?

Most tweeters are 1" or 3/4". If I remember correctly the tweeter aren't going to just fit, no matter the size. Your going to have to do a bit of modifying to mount it in the stock location. Remember the 1" sizing is the size of the tweeter diaphragm not the casing, so different brand 1" tweeters can have different dimensions.

If they are letting speakers go for less than half retail price, they can't be so great. Honestly I've never heard good things about pioneer speakers, nor have I ever heard a pair that left me impressed.

EDIT: I guess what I am saying is that set is probably worth about $200 considering it probably doesn't sound much better than a few other speakers that sell in that price range normally.
