Stereo stolen -- but now turn signals don't work?
I have a 1997 Accord, EX, 2/dr. Years ago I put a stereo in it that had served me well, until last weekend when it was stolen - ripped - out of the console deck.
I consider the thief a grade-A moron for stealing a 2001 vintage stereo ( NEW: CAN PLAY MP3's burned to CD! [:@] ) I hope he got his $2.00 worth.
I checked out the car and everything looks to be OK: overhead lights work, brake lights work, power doors and locks, etc.
But the weird thing is that the turn signals don't work. I checked all the fuses and they test OK. When you move the turn signal lever you hear the 'click' into position, but that 'electrical' click that triggers the blinkers isn't there.
I don't know if the thief disabled something ( maybe thinking the alarm might be on the same circuit as the turn signals? ) but I've been unable to find the cause of the problem.
So what to do? Should I remove the entire dash and start testing connections The thief appears to have been in a hurry, it looks like he just ripped the stereo out, it didn't look like his motivation included electrical system tampering. Could a removed stereo make the turn signals stop working ( I can't believe you'd put those two on the same circuit! ).
Any tips or advice from you gurus would be very much appreciated.
Thanks in advance.
