Stereo System
Hey,
I haven't totally gotten a grasp on how stereo systems work yet, so I'm going to ask for your opinions. I found the following on SonicElectronix, just wondering if it'd be good or not. My car is a 2000 EX-L 3.0L V6 with a VTEC.
2x 6-1/2" Kappa Series 2-way Speakers (75 watts RMS each)
2x 6" x 9" Kappa Series 2-way Speakers (110 watts RMS each)
1x Bazooka BA460 Amplifier
1x 2-Channel Class AB Car Amplifier

RMS Power Rating:
4 ohms: 60 watts x 4 chan.
2 ohms: 85 watts x 4 chan.
Bridged, 4 ohms: 175 watts x 2 chan.
2x Two 12" Dual 4 Ohm HFi Series Subwoofers (Hifonics) (300 watts RMS each)4 ohms: 60 watts x 4 chan.
2 ohms: 85 watts x 4 chan.
Bridged, 4 ohms: 175 watts x 2 chan.
1x 2-Channel Class AB Car Amplifier
RMS Power Rating:
4 ohms: 170 watts x 2 chan.
2 ohms: 250 watts x 2 chan.
Bridged, 4 ohms: 500 watts x 1 chan.
All for $550 before shipping (so I'd guess around $700 after shipping and handling). What do you guys think? Good deal? If not, what would you recommend?
4 ohms: 170 watts x 2 chan.
2 ohms: 250 watts x 2 chan.
Bridged, 4 ohms: 500 watts x 1 chan.

i recommend component speakers for the front - tweeters in factory dash locations. don't put 2-way speakers up front, you don't want tweeters at your ankles.
what head unit?
Powerbass has better amps and subs at a similar price. Sonicelectronix sells Powerbass also.
I like Infinity Reference more than Kappa, dispite being cheaper. I don't like Kappa tweeters.
I like Alpine Type-R more than Infinity.
Infinity and Alpine are available anywhere, go to a store and listen to speakers first. No need to audition subs or amps, just match the specs with your budget.
you have two dual 4 ohms subs - that can get you a 4 ohm load or a 1 ohm load. if you go with a Powerbass Class-D amp, you'll want a 1 ohm load.
