Brake Light, What's going on!!!
Okay so I just got the car from my older sister and she failed to mention that whenever I turn on the car the red brake light comes on. I took it out for a spin Sunday and when I turned it on the light also flipped up. After about five to ten minutes out on the road though it left. This morning I started my car and was driving to school but even twenty minutes after start up the light didn't go out. I'm a bit confused. I thought that it might have something to do with the car being cold, but I don't see how that could affect the brake light. My brakes, as far as I know, are perfectly fine. I've checked my car's manual and it says that the brake light comes on when the emergency brake is being used, but for one I'm not stupid I'd notice if I'd been driving with my embrake on and I haven't. So I'm not sure how to proceed. I think I'll have my dad check the brakes but, he'll probably say there's nothing wrong with them. Sooo...any helpful advice at all?

RE: Brake Light, WTF!!!
There's is a switch on the e-brake lever that turns that light on. It is completely possible for that switch to get bent and turn the light on, even when the e-brake is off. You have to take the black trim around the shifter/radio to get to the switch.

RE: Brake Light, WTF!!!
Alright, so it has also been doing something else. Whenever I press on the brake, usually right after I start it now, the red brake light comes on. I've read and reread the manual and it says that the light should ONLY come on if I'mengaging the emergency/parking brake. So, is it suppose to come on whenever I apply any brake or what? I'm having my dad check my brakes soon because it's getting to be winter and it seems like a good idea. Any other helpful information is greatly appreciated. Also, finch13 through the advice of others I have decided to not allow a few smart comments to affect my own reputation. I'm sorry I snapped at your attempt at humor. You seem to be a very intelligent person especially about cars, I knownext to nothing about themmyself. Having said this I will probably be asking you a ton and a half of questions and will take your words quite seriously. Don't worry about me drowning in a whirlpool or being on a sinking boat, I'm apro-lifeguardI'll be fine.[sm=smiley2.gif]
