Default Headlight Clean Up...

I figure I am not the only one has wondered this but I hate the way my headlights look...dingy and cloudy looking. I saw some stuff in Wal-Mart that is soppose to clean them and " MAKE THEM LIKE NEW"...Does this stuff work or is it a waste of 20 buckaroo's???

I use a plastic cleaner/polish and a buffer to get good results. Go for it and try the stuff but keep the receipt. If it doesn't cut it (pun intended)then take it back to Wally.

Clay has worked for me only sometimes. Consequently I don't waste time with it now and go direct to the plastic polish and buffer. Don't forget that the lenses must be protected afterwards. I use Aerospace 303 for that.

I use clay on everything!!!! Using 2 bars at a time makes it a lot easier to handle since if you drop it, it's garbage. I don't do the paint so much since it's not good to continuously strip the clearcoat, but for glass and plastic, I use it whenever I think it could get a little cleaner. It's essentially the same effect as wet sanding, but the clay is much more mild and you do it by hand. I use the cheapest spray detailer (currently Strauss brand) available as a lubricant and you use a lot of it. The area to be clay'd has to be WET with detail spray. You simply rub lightly and quickly with the clay until you dont hear it rubbing anymore.

FYI ---- in real life, I'm not as fury as my avitar .... or my brother for that matter.

Thanks for that tid bit of info. Never thought to use a clay bar on glass and plastics. I'll have to pick some up and try it out!
