I mean 20-30W total... assuming you wire them all to the same source. And assuming you have like 4 strips, trunk lighting, license plate lighting, etc. I left room to add too. An LED only draws like 1/4w ea or less, so figure 120 LEDs or so.

Im on the fence between LED and CCFL... CCFL seems to be more fragile and prone to die than LED...

they are EXTREMELY fragile. i broke one of my friends while installing and i hardly put any pressure. havent had any problems with them dying yet, but if they do, you can get a brand new pair on oznium for $4 and it'll take 5 seconds to reinstall

I ran 4 strips of leds under my car off of 4 AA batteries!
My 3 gauges are wired directly to my cig. lighter and when I plug my GPS in I dont blow a fuse.

i just had an idea. how could i wire the strips within the car to come on with my head lights?

EDIT: thought of one. routing them to the glove box in some way. (just the four strips.) would that overload any fuses etc?

you'd have to tap into the fuse for your headlights. i say wire them up to a switch though

Personally if I was going to wire anything to the Headlights i would get a 30 amp relay wire it to a good constant power the tap a wire off the dash lights hook it to a toggle switch on the dash then down to the switched side of the relay so you wont be overloading anything and you will also have the ability to turn then off if you want but they will turn on with the running lights when the switch is on on the dash

i'll probably be back here asking for help while i'm installing considering i've never taken apart the dash and what not. what kind of switch should i buy and where? and could i run all four strips to the switch? as well as 30 amp relay wire... how much would that be and how much should i get?

i also was curious to know if i could change the lights behind the stock radio and gauges? are those standard hologens or leds?

First you would run all your power wires for the leds to the relay
the switch on the dash would only interupt the power between the dash light power wire and the switched source wire on the relay so you can use a .2 amp toggle on dash the 30 amp relay will handle the main power switch the relay you can pick up at either your local auto parts dealer or Radio shack as far as changing the lights in your dash I'm not sure at this point what type of bulbs are in the dash. the ones in the radio are built into the radio and I don't know how or if you can change those (short of tearing the radio apart..( I wouldn't recomend))
