Default 94-97 DIY black housing headlights

So if you are low on funds but still want the look of nice headlights that cost a ton this is a great cheap mod.

tools needed : Flat head screwdriver , oven, aluminum sheets, and confidence.

Step 1: take the metal clips off of the headlights holding the lens and housing together, just take screwdriver slide under and pop off and remove headlight bulbs

Step 2: preheat oven to 200 degrees, once it is preheated place one headlight assembly into oven at a time on top of the aluminum foil set oven for 15 mins and pull headlight out around every 5 mins each time trying to pull apart a little bit everytime be careful prying apart with flat head screwdriver the plastic housing will be soft and fragile

step 3: once apart start taping the area showed if you can not remove the low beam bulb cover just tape over it it will be fine.

Step 4: DO NOT SAND HOUSING this will cause the paint not to be smooth ,use a primer/sealer and prime the entire housing you want painted (i desided to paint the whole housing mounting brackets, and back of housing included so i primered the whole thing ) using a flash time of 3 to 4 mins between coats use 3 coats of primer first coat thin and get thicker to cover more area each coat.

Step 5: i used duplicolor semi gloss paint going over every surface that was primered use 4 to 5 min flash time between coats with 3 coats of paint again the first coat thin just covering the surface and get heavier with each coat applied

Step 6: let dry over night if able but if not let dry for atleast 2 to 3 hours make sure it is not tacky before you un-tape the housing pull the tape slow and steep angles to keep the paint from pulling or chipping if wanted go around edges of tape with razor blades to insure clean edges

Step 7: place the lens cover back on the housing and place in oven at 200 degrees again until glue is hot and pliable. take out every 3 to 4 mins and sqeeze the lens back onto the housing until it returns to former position before being taken apart

Step 8 : i used Goop to insure a seal around the headlights ( goop is a clear silicone sealant ) go completely around the lens applying with a Q-tip leaving no place untouched

Step 9: put metal clips back on and enjoy!!!!!
