'05 V6 Tranny Failures?

04 Accord replaced transmission at 70k
Apparantly there was a recall with transmissions for 02-04 models of Accords, Odysseys, and Civics. My 04 Accord of course was not on the recall list, but it got stuck changing from 2nd to 3rd and 3rd to 4th, it would rev, then I'd take my foot of the gas and it would switch gears. I argued with corportate and got a new transmission for $1500. It doesn't sound like this is your problem, but I was shocked to hear about all the recalls, so your issue isn't suprising. I thought hondas were better than this!

Looks like what I expected. Would have been happy with a nominal amount, even an allowance towards future service/parts. Anything.
30 years of brand loyalty didn't get me any points or stars for my scrapbook.
Not disappointed as I received exactly as expected.
Good afternoon Mr. Craig,
We wish to acknowledge receipt of your e-mail.
We have taken the opportunity to review your file regarding the transmission concern on your vehicle. Although we can appreciate our customers’ high expectations regarding the quality and reliability of their vehicles due to the reputation Honda has earned in the marketplace, there comes a time when Honda Canada, as a manufacturer, can no longer be responsible for the cost associated with repairs. The Major Component Warranty for your Honda Accord covered your vehicle’s engine and transmission for 5 years/100,000 kms, whichever occurred first. Regrettably, since your vehicle well exceeds the limitations of the warranty, and although we do appreciate your loyalty to our products, Honda is unable to be of assistance with the cost of the repair.
We thank you again for taking the time to contact Honda Canada, and allowing us the opportunity to respond.
Yours very truly,
HONDA CANADA Inc.

IM sorry about that...I know with a high mileage car, they can turn heads! I also know they paid out a ton on repairs on the V6's from 03 (there was a recall on the oil jet kit, to keep the tranny cool, as the V6's it would heat up too much)Honda will never admit the V6's tranny was a design flaw, for the 7th gen's (03-07). I have heard they fixed the problems on the 7.5 gen(06-07) but i wouldnt take the risk...Its a total crapshoot tho, some v6's i know have over 250,000(miles) and run fine some have failed at less than 100k miles..So its very spotty weather they fail or not? I have a 07 i4, with 100k miles on it..and the trans is smooth and shifts great..So who knows? I'd go to a cheap tranny place, get it fixed for like 1500, then take it to the dealer running..and you should get 2000$

The intent was to keep the car as a spare for our son to use while home from university. We've taken great care of the car over the years, actually the first car my wife really liked. That's why we kept it so long, we usually traded every 4-5 years with 80-85K km on them.
We spent 3500.00 on the rebuilt trans. & another 900.00 for new rubber.
Car should be good for 2-3 years of service.
It was worth zero when the trans. spilled it's cookies.
Can't get much of a used car for the $4400.00 we spent.
Local dealer has a couple '13 Accords on the lot, out back. Black/black leather like ours but didn't notice the engine tag. Nice looking car but I don't think I'll be buying another Honda product.
Went to the dark-side recently & bought a Lexus, about a month ago. Very nice car.
