So i just got the 06 honda accord 4 cycl lx special edition in auto for my first car. right now im looking to beef up the engine and give it a little more horsepower. i looked into cold air intakes, and i cant put one in cuz of the MAF sensor? ANY SUGGESTIONS?!?!?! MY 166 HORSE ISNT CUTTING IT FOR ME

 

Most of the things that will give you significant power will void the warranty, all of the minor mods wont change things for you all that much.

yea your intake might have to be custom made to work with the MAF. you can do underdrive pulleys (unorthodox), header, exhaust, high flow cat, maybe an electric supercharger. yea your pretty limited on your options if you dont want to void your warranty.

Don't go bonkers with it. You have no idea how fortunate you are to have such a nice car for your very first one. Take care of it, don't neglect maintenance or run the hell out of it. I was in the Navy for two years before I could afford my first used car........a 1962 Bonneville convertible!!
Take good care of what you have, you'll be glad you did......and if you're thinking "What an old fart" then you're right......and proud of it!!!!!!

 

I don't know if lightshow was joking when he said get an electric S.C., but they don't work so stay away from them. Also, don't waste your time with underdrive pulleys. You will get a good 3-4HP but your A/C won't work so good and you will have a dead battery due to the alternator output being reduced. Intake and headers are a pretty good start but due to the warranty you are pretty restricted in what you can do.

 

well i was only halfway joking. i wasnt talking about the exhaust fans on ebay or anything. im talking about a 24 volt 1000cfm unit. i have installed on on a honda before and it works pretty good for how cheap and easy it is.

 

I would say wait until you break the car in completly before doing any performance mods involving the engine; maybe 5000 miles to be on the safe side

 

u want a good intake that will be c.a.r.b approved, find a k&n or look for intakes with c.a.r.b sticker. if you want some real power, i'd suggest also changing the intake manifolt to a larger one, get a catback exhaust system, pulleys, and upgrade your ecu (that's where the most power sits, so it would be a good place to start)
