Default 2003 Accord Automatic Transmission failures??

I recently bought my dad's 4 cylinder 03 Accord which has 113,000 on it. It looks great and runs perfectly. Never needed any major repairs aside from tires/brakes and scheduled maintenence.

Since I just bought an 03 Accord I was curious and have been googling it for reviews and such. Our family has always owned Honda's as they have been very reliable but I came across some alarming reviews for the 2003 Accord Transmission...

I've read AT LEAST 400 reviews/complaints about the 2003 Accord's Transmission failures over the last couple days. Some of them have had to replace their transmission 2-3 times.

Now 99% of these reviews were for V6 transmission failures. I literally only remember 2 of those reviews/complaints being about 4 cylinder failures. Do I have anything to worry about my 4 cylinder transmission or is it just the V6?

I know for a fact the 98-02 had really bad issues with trannys going out. I'm not a v6 guy myself so I’m not 100% sure on your question...but someone else should chime in and help you out

Default 2003 automatic transmission failures

I own an Accord Ex 2.4L A/T and I just hit 165k and recently my transmission has been delaying its shift into r and d also it delays from 1-2 and 2-1, the other day i was in 3rd and accelerated to merge into traffic when my a/t shift into 2nd as passing gear then rapidly into 1st locking the tires up. Then it shifted back into 2nd then normally into 3rd....very odd. I am hoping that someone on here has acces to flow diagrams for the valves and pressure specs so that i can diagnose my transmission....I called honda and they told me that they didn't recognize this as a common problem for this model. The service department will also not repair any internals, they will however diagnose and install for you. very $$$$$
I suggest frequent oil changes in the transmission and as a note the a/t filter is internal and a/t must be removed to replace . I used my little 4 banger to tow a 2500lb trailer from ca to co and still got over 28mpgs the whole way, great car!!! just take care of it. anyone with knowledge on this subject please help us out!!!
thanks
