ORIGINAL: nafango2

why would you put forged rods and pistons in a non-turbo engine?
Huge shot of nitrous. Better product than a cast material. The S2000 has forged pistons from the factory.

get some CL type S cams and call it a day

building up a J30a is pointless unless you are going to FI it and even then the stock internals can handle what the S/C can feed it even on the high boost pully

I don't necessarilly agree with that, but you do need to know what you're getting. I'm not going to orderr a custom grind when I boost my tc, but I'll do the research to figure out the specs that I want and find what has already been developed and compare notes. Chances are pretty good that whatever I come up with is going to be pretty close to what's already been developed ..... but then again, now I'm debating between FI and NA. For NA, I'd definately void my warantees. The TRD SC when installed at Toyota maintains the warrantees. I've found parts that allow my engine to spin up to 9500 rpms and deep dish pistons at 9.0:1 CR and domed ones that give 11.0:1. The TRD sc is made to not hurt the stock internals, but if I change the internals, then a turbo makes a lot more power. Tough choices, but a great problem to have! I love having a tuner's platform to work with!!!

i only say what i did cause if you goto any decent company that does cam regrinds or full billet cams if they actually have a clue and are using tested and proven designs youre going to get lifts and durations based on your application.... hence the reason i said what i did.... is it a good idea to research what you need? why yes... it is... cause you dont want to blindly assume that the guy youre going to knows whats going on.... and you could end up with a nice 360degree duration and a lift that destroys your valvetrain ^_^

^^^ my point exactly!!! ..... I'd just feel more comfortable with a design that has been replacated, tested and proven for the application.
