RE: Accord ideling at 300 rpm
take a closer look at your tach, on mine it does'nt show rpms between 0-500,so while my car appears to be idling at 300 rpm at first glance, when you take a closer look you are really idling at 800 rpm.
*i think you would have to have a very wierd cam in that thing to be able to both idle smoothly at 300 rpm and still make power at 6000 rpm or whatever it redlines at.

Like cocker said, make sure you read the tach right. I know on my car, the readings between 0 and 1000 are different than the others, one line below 1000 is 750, which is the correct idle speed, give or take 50 rpms.
Also, at 300 rpms the car would be shuddering, at 500 mine shudders badly.
Last, but not least, double check that the vacuum lines on the carb are on tight and not leaking. There is an idle adjustment screw somewhere on the carb.

The main question though, would the car always idle at 300, or is it recent? If if is not shuddering then you should be fine... If it is make sure your O2 sensor is plugged in correctly... Something like that has actually happened to me before. Also in some cars i know you can adjust how low or high your car idles.
