Default buying an h22. needs head

So, Im planning on buying an h22 motor off some guy. He said it needs new heads and he will sell it to me for 300 bucks, he says it has 95k miles on it. How expensive is a head for it? How much would it cost me in the junk yard and is it worth the money??? He is including intake and exhaust manifold. thanks

Depending on what’s wrong with the head it could have damaged the bottom end.
300bucks for a blow H22 sounds way to high price. I got a blown h22 full engine be4 for 30bucks. After they are blown they aren’t worth much of anything. Talk him down to like 200 or even 150 that’s all it's really worth. Also I doubt you will find a h22 head from a junk yard ppl know about h22s as soon as they hit the lot someone has already snagged the engine. IF the bottom end it ok you can prob. find a used head from 300buck plus.
BTW it only has one head.

I agree with G22, a h22 head should go for $250-300 on craigslist or a forum or whatever. But they are pretty rare to find in a junkyard.

I also agree that $300 seems a bit steep. Especially because I assume you are taking his word for what is wrong.

I sold my H22 that burned 3/qts or more of oil a day for $100.

Yeah thanks you guys. Ive been thinking of it too and it does seem to pricey for just taking his word for it. Im just going to wait and see what I can get in the future. just getting my inside upgraded with audio then Ill work on the engine.

take that 300bucks and get a bisimoto cam regrind. That will add some power to your ride.

yeah Im thinking of redoing my exhaust piping for a 2 1/4 or 2 1/2. Also changing my stock headers for f23 ones, Ive read up alot and they should fit right in. but I heard cams will only add about 1-4 horse power in my engine. Is thats true?

depends on what cam you use. The header exhaust and a intake will only gain you around 5-6hp MAX w/o a tune with a tune if you buy good quality parts you can prob. squeeze 10-12hp out of it...but don't count on it.
Cam will give you more power than I/H/E will all day long. read this see if it helps you out any....

It will run you about 600-700bucks( and you will be on a waiting list he makes them per order). But when you look at the cash to power ratio its very very good. This is why...if you by a good name brand intake let’s just go with AEM on the low side you will spend 175bucks high side around 300-400bucks. So let’s make a even braking point let’s say $250 for a intake. Then you look at exhaust...a cat back if you go with a good name brand will spend min around 200-300bucks. So les just go with 250bucks for now....then plus a muffler lest just say 50bucks. You are already at $500 for intake and exhaust and you have gained AT THE MOST 10hp(and thats with a tune. with out a tune your lookin at MAYBE 6-7hp gain MAYBE)!!! For another 100bucks or so you can gain double the hp - 26hp(this is untuned btw...you will see more gains with a tune) and about hr or two worth of work. IMO from what I have done and seen your better off going with a really good name brand header like bisi or RMF or Kid Racing and getting a good cam(s) that is where you will yield the most power. Most ppl just get intake and exhaust to be like everyone else. To be loud and have something to show under the hood (I was even like that when I started with hondas everyone does) But what sounds better walking on other cars with full OEM exhaust and intake?? I mean ppl would be like WTF? how did you beat me? Well you beat them b/c you where smart and bought the right power adders for your honda unlike Joe Smow who did what everyone else does. See what I mean? I hope this helps you out with your future purchase of parts for your honda

sounds like the way to go. I looked up in bisimoto.com and found mine for 135. thats the only one they have so Ill go with it. I really have no clue on how to adjust it so Ill just go to my local tuning shop to get it installed.

135 for cam? I think you might be lookin at the cam gear. Cam(s) should be in the 300 range for a regrind. That mean you have to send him your cam or buy a core cam from him for a extra 100bucks.
