Code 1457 is for EVAP control system leak near canister. First things first, when did this light come on? Is the carr running abnormally? Last time you filled up your tank, did you tighten the gas cap till it clicked at least 3 times? The first thing I would do is unscrew my gas cap, then screw it back on till it clicked more than three times. Then reset the ECU (Disconnect the negative battery terminal for a couple of minutes) and see if the check engine light comes back on. The reason I say this is I have forgotten to tighten my gas cap several times and it threw a CEL. I tightened the gas cap and reset the ECU and light went off. Just a simple check before you start with the more complicated stuff

its been on for a month now, the car runs fine. Sometimes it goes off by itself, but comes back on with in a few hundred miles. I click the gas cap 3 or more times when I fill it. I took it to a local garage and they told me that when they checked it everything was fine, so it's hard for them to pinpoint it.I wouldn't mind taking it back to a dealer but I'm pretty far away from one, but it looke like I'm going to have to

Code p1457 is not caused by a loose gas cap. If you live in an area that uses salt on the roads the first thing i'd check is the canister vent shut valve.
