Default Code P1457 related to bad fuel lines?

Had the brake lines replaced about a month ago on my 1999 Accord. The mechanic showed me the fuel lines which were in bad shape. Not leaking to the ground, but one section seeping. He'll need to order the fuel lines. Then a few weeks ago the CEL came on, brought it to my son's who has a code reader, it was P1457. He reset it, as expected a week later it returned. Could this be related to the fuel lines? Part of the (I believe) vent lines has a small hole. I need to consider how much money I should put into the 20 year old car. The rest of the car is in decent shape, 172k miles and runs fine.I realize trading it in as is would return a minimal value. I was quoted $615 for to replace the fuel lines, that's actually less than I thought. I don't have the resources to do it myself. With the P1457 I know it involves maybe more parts, research shows that can be a complicated troubleshooting procedure, but related to the fuel system.

I guess I should have checked under the car more thoroughly when I bought it last September. I know with a '99 there's age to consider - in these parts rust happens due to what's put on the road to clear the snow/ice.

Look at this post for things that can throw P1457 and some troubleshooting tips.

The fuel vent line (one of the steel line under the car) runs to the EVAP purge valve which is mentioned in that post.

Thanks for the information. Quite a complicated system - I read about it's function, a bit similar to the catalyst in my wood stove to re-burn smoke instead of expelling it up the chimney. As mentioned, the car is running fine. I do hope replacing the fuel lines will resolve the CEL.

Sorry about the title, was supposed to read 'Code P1457 related to bad fuel lines?'

I don't see a way to edit the title.

You can edit your own posts, but I think editing the title is a moderator thing.
