Only Negatives if the drain the battery..U will have to recharge it at 85 amp but ur car can do that. I have a Yellow Top in my Jeep Wrangler for 7 years and still rolling strong...

I just spent some time on your web site, interesting ! These jeeps go up side, downside and side to side, so Gel batteries are great for them...no plates too come loose from all there bouncing around!

The Optima I had lasted for about four years...didn't last much longer than a standard wet-cell battery. When it failed, it off-gassed a mixture of hydrogen and hydrogen sulfide for about thirty or fourty miles (no other indication of failure). Got home and thought I had a leaking tire...if you hear this sound, don't attempt to open your hood!

Any battery will last longer if you'll recharge it overnight once a month using a 2A or other trickle charger. The term "maintenance-free" was concocted by marketing people who would prefer to sell you a new battery every three or four years. Prior to charging, add only distilled water if the electrolyte levels in any of the cells are low.

and dont forget to add.... you can mount it at any angle ^_-
but yeah, i have a wet cell in the front and a yellow top in the back, had an amp fry itself and not shut off, it drained both batteries, killed the wetcell and the yellow top recharged no problem, only reason the wetcell wasnt replaced with a yellow top or redtop is cause it was still under warranty so it was replaced for free ^_^

A Batter is a battery as long as the alternator is working properly then the battery should function the same weather it is a optima or a diehard. You pay for the name.

not when your cold starting. different batteries have different ratings for cold starting abilities. its in CCA, and too crappy a battery will have a lower CCA, become sulfated faster, and will get to the point where it cant hold a charge.

lasts longer, better starts, looks great, no dirty acid on top of battery, and more durable.
i think those reasons convince me to get an optima.

optimas use a gel-type, not a wet or dry like other batteries. supposedly they can last up to 10 years. ive had my yellow top for over two years and it still holds the 14.5 volt charge.
