RE: engine help required. i want to add power but i'm not sure how
yeah, your car is OBD1 so you should stick with and OBD1 engine, else you will get caught up in the mix of modifying distributors, and saturated vs unsaturated injectors... etc. etc.
In other words, get a 94-96 h22. You also want to stay away from engines out of the SH prelude... the engine code is evading me right now. OBD1 engines are alot easier to deal with in many performance related aspects as well so consider yourself lucky.
As far as where to get it from, if you have the tools and know how to inspect a junkyard motor, I would try that first, the savings on shipping alone are worth the hassel times 100, not to mention you can probably talk a junk yard down a bit. Other wise, go with HMOTORS, I got an engine from them some time in the fall of 2001, and it was emaculate... but expensive, on my currnet project car I imported it my self, and have been kicking my self for ever since. You are going to need to do quite a bit of research yourself, there is alot to know about these engines before you order one, but I would suggest agains a type-s, they look nice on paper, but they are not worth the money if you plan on messing the the internals at all. I would also suggest against an M2B4 transmission, if you want a LSD, get a Quaife differential, or Cusco LSD, the are both far supperior, and will end up costing about 1k... which is how much more the M2A4 transmission would cost you. Quaifes are more forgiving in daily driving scenarios though... you dont have to replace clutches, or make yourself sick driving in figure 8s.
Make sure you get the UNCUT wiring harness with the engine, you are going to need it, if its a JDM engine you are going to have to splice the harness, and long wire leads are very important... dismantlers are well known for leaving 1/2 inch nubs. If its USDM you can make the prelude harness work... its not really worth the effort though unless the car is completely dismantled. You will also need a p13 or p28 ecu. You will also want to varify that you will be recieving the halfshaft with the engine. If you are ordering from HMOTORS, go ahead and get the full swap package. The HASport motor mount is worth it!!!
You will also want to aquire a water pump, oil pump rebuild kit (quite ofton the seals on these engines have rotten seals and its to easy to do while the engine is out), timing belt, and the parts to make the auto tensioner a manual tensioner... all from Honda, dont trust aftermarket for the timing belt of anything that attaches to it for these cars, with the exception of a balance shaft removal kit if you decide to go with one.
All of that should give you a good idea of what to be looking into, and watching out for, hopefully that helps you and all of the other people here thinking about this swap. I am in the middle of my 3rd H22 swap into a ... 94 accord, so that should be sound advice, and I am happy to answer any other questions you might have.
good luck

Oh, and dont try to swap this swap with an automatic prelude tranny... or accord, its been tried, and tried, and tried, and meet with misserable failure every time, I am sure its possible, but the headache is definitely not worth it. You are right, a manual conversion usually is about 1k at a shop, but you are most likely going to need to find the parts... there getting increasingly rare these days, so good luck with it... if you need information on the parts let me know and I will fill you in accordingly.

Check your common sense circuits man! Dropping $4-5 grand on a car that is worth less than that is just not smart. Save your money for a different car that is newer and already has the power you want.

Not everything is about money man, the 5th gen accord is one of the best handeling reasonably priced production cars ever built, not to mention that anytime you ever modify a cars engine in any way you are immediately killing the resale value.
Lets also not even mention the fact that some people just like to work on cars, its cheaper to do that with an older model rather than a newer one.
In other words, dont flame the guy just because you do not have the same interests.
Dont forget take a good look at his tail lights next time he blows the doors off of your new car with all of the power YOU wanted.

lol
thanks, i have alot of reserch to do. but on hmotors, they have a few that look good; heres the link to the one that has 90% of what i need, it sounds good to me but i want someone that knows more then i do to help me out
http://www.hmotorsonline.com/shop/sc...amp;item=30017
i still don't quite get what i need to do to the tranny
i like manuel, but would rather stick with auto. i need to replace the stock no matter whether its auto or manuel (from what i've been understanding), can i just find an auto tranny? and if i can what kind will work the best?

Um, I have never done an automatic install, but from what i have gathered the rule of staying away from the SH prelude trannys still applies. You may or maynot need the linkage from a prelude, you are going to have to research that, I think it actually depends on which tranny you go with... I really dont pay to much attention to those projects anymore honestly... The other thing you will need to look into is if the accord flex plate will work... once again, I think it does, but double check.
The issues from way back on my second swap when I looked into this were with the difference in the shifter unit on the prelude and accord, they moved a different amount of space to shift from neutral reverse drive four etc. Someone may have come up with something or found a transmission that has the engagement throw lengths needed by now, that was 6 or 7 years ago now... or possibly a way to get the prelude shifter assembly to work in the accord.
Anyway, those are the issues you are going to have, research it, and let us know what you come up with.
Alternatively, you can use an Accord transmission on a h22, the accord auto tranny has lots of trouble with more than 200hp (180 ft/tq) and the h22 sits at about 190hp when its in good running order, which that engine you are look at most likely is in quite good shape.
using the accord transmission you may also have some problems with the halfshaft mounting to the block, but you may be able to use the prelude auto shaft, it depends on what the size of the splines are... honda has done some wierd stuff with auto transmissions, so they may be different, on the standards they are a standarized size.
I am interested now, I will try to find some of this information for you as well... later
