Default Engine swap for 99 accord 4cyl need suggestion please.

Hi every body, my 99 accord lx 2dr, 5sp, has 230,000 miles on it, it burns 1qt of oil every 300 miles, it think the ring could be worn out. Anyway i want to do a engine swap with something a little more power than the stock one. Is there any easy swap that doesn't require much of fabrication to fit it in my car and still pass emission ? I'm interest in a F20B 2.0 DOHC, any body knows anything about this swap ?

I have a f20b, its more problems than its worth. Finding parts can be hard and there is little information about it.

You could swap for a H22a/a1/a4. Its a lot more straight up, has been done a million times, and a lot of parts available for it.

You will have problems with inspection/emissions with any of these engines though. You can forget running the f20b with an obd2 ecu, and an h22 will be expensive to do so. There was only 1 year that the h22 came with an obd2 ecu without an immobilizer, so those ecus are in high demand at $500-600 a piece.

It certainly would be a lot cheaper. You could even rebuild yours and throw some aftermarket parts in to make some power and still have it done cheaply. Or just put a stock replacement in and turbo it, the F series can handle a serious amount of boost.

How much boost can the stock engine handle ? 5-7 psi ? And how much power can i gain from it do you think ?

7-8 is considered the "safe" amount for a stock engine. I have seen people run 12 or so for long periods of time without issue. 8psi would put you in the 200-220whp. 12psi would be in the 250-270whp.

My vote is for finding a low mileage replacement stock engine at a junkyard and boosting it

I'll have to find a low mileage stock engine and swap it when i have the time. Now 1 more thing i need to know is since mine is a 99 4cyl vtec LEV, what other year will the motor fit in the car directly ? Looks like 98-02 are very similar but what are the interchanging abilities ?

you have a f23 engine. Just find any f23 and swap it
