Default F23A1 VS F23A4

what is the difference between the A1 and the A4.... other than 2 less hp, and the ulev cert?

i found an a4 on cl for 400 bux (62K) and im wondering if it would be worth the time and effort to get it for a project and build it up.... ,its the full thing everythings on it, intake manifold exhaust, etc....

would it be a waste of time and money to try and build it?

and for that price if there no differences other than being tuned for the ulev, it might be worth it to get it for just incase parts huh?

thanks

I would definitely want to know the history of that engine before I bought it if I were you. But I am always suspecious of things when there cheap... to many people sell siezed engines with broken rods and the like.
If it is in good shape though, steal it from that poor man, because that will be just about what you will be doing when you hand him $400 for it.

According to my Helm book, there's differences outside the engine itself. A quick look says the primary O2 sensor is different, & it's wired to a different pin at the ECU. For all I can tell, the ECU is different?? That primary O2 sensor also gets it's heater power from a different source, through a relay that isn't present on a non-ULEV car.

I wouldn't be surprised if there's more differences...

The helms is like an encyclopedia for your Accord. I believe its what the dealership uses, right? Its thick, heavy and detailed. It also neededhas every part# for every special tool, for pretty much any task. Good stuff. Ive even cross-referenced special tool #'s to find similar non-honda versions.

Yeah I want one too, but they are expensive. I think they are around $80 for a new one.
ULEV is different. F23 engines are cheap anyway. $400 doesn't even sound like that good of a deal to me. You could probably find an F23A1 for cheaper if you looked around.

Check this one (shameless plug). Jon didn't want it because it doesn't go all the way up to 2000.

Yeah If I had a 98-99 Accord, I would have bought that manual the day you put it up for sale! I even tried to pimp it out for you on another forum oncebut I didn't get any bites.
