Flaring???
Own a 96 accord ex (4 cyl. vtec), 98kmiles, and it seems the auto. transmission is shifting hard into the first couple of gears. When I took it into the honda shop to have it checked out, the auto. tech. said its just "flaring" and that I should have the trans. oil changed every 15k miles due to the internal filter and them only getting about 3 of 12 qts. of trans. oil replaced with each change. Should I worried about extented damaged due to the rough shifting, and is there a cheap, easy solution or prevention available? Should I worry about transmission replacement?

RE: Flaring???
Flaring? HMMM, that's a term I've never heard before. There are machines that will remove most of the old fluid and replace with new, it might be worth checking into. Our 95 Integra needed trans fluid changes every 15-20K to prevent rough/sloppy shifitng.
If it isn't shifting right then sure damage is possible. Have you taken his advice?

RE: Flaring???
i would do what the tech says by draining ur trans fluid level..it also might help resetting your ECU..but what the tech said about flairing doesnt seem right.. i have a 1994 accord and my trans doesnt slip but it will rev somewhat higher before shifting into 2nd gear. the automatic 4cyl in hondas have a very slow reaction time and tend to rev high before shifting...a performance computer chip may as well help..you can get a venom one i belive its called for around 250-300bucks and it tightens the trans shifting so theres less lag between shifts..good luck hopefully prob. gets solved
