Default high pitch whining noise...

Hey everybody again.. I have a '94 Accord EX with a 2.2L vtec as we all know ... my mechanic replaced my timing belt because its above 100k miles and we should all do it at that mileage... we put a new water pump on at the time we replaced the timing belt.

I think that he put the belt on too tight because when my car runs now it makes a high pitched whining noise on the side of the engine where the timing belt is... does anyone know if this is a bad thing and if it will damage my engine??? All eqiuptment was bought from NAPA.

Thanks

to be on the safe side i would take back to him and have him look at it. my g/f had her timing belt and water pump changed and it made a whining noise also. she took it back and told the guy to fix it and he did and it runs fine now.
